They prayed and hoped that the water, at 25 feet [25 m] deep, would prevent a fall. The Fire Brigade arrived shortly afterwards, along with 118 rescuers.

With the help of divers, firefighters were able to evacuate the baby boy. Unfortunately, Andriani was dead.

The body is now in the Marsala mortuary, in the hands of authorities.
